Eadem first hit the scene as a part of the Sephora Accelerate program in 2020 and has built a community that stands by the brand’s skin-care products. Not only do the products work but the aesthetic packaging makes them look good on any bathroom shelf or counter.

Eadem

Eadem Milk Marvel Dark Spot Serum

Star product: Long before milk products were trending, we loved the Milk Marvel Dark Spot Serum. The soothing texture and potent formula with niacinamide and ascorbic acid make it great for gently chipping away at pesky dark spots.

S’Able Labs

Sure, we were already knee-deep in celebrity beauty brands when Idris and Sabrina Elba decided to drop their skin-care line, but after trying the products we threw our fatigue with star-founded brands out the window because S’Able Labs is just that good. The couple bonded over skin care during the pandemic and took their newfound love outside the bathroom in 2021. The brand aims to bring A-beauty (that’s “African beauty”) into the spotlight through efficacious formulas that are rooted in the healing power of ingredients like baobab, shea butter, and quasil. And if you didn’t catch it, the brand's name is Elba’s spelled backward, so points for creativity.

S'Able Lab

S'Able Labs Baobab Moisturizer

Star product: The Baobab Moisturizer is a favorite of Allure editors—and our SOs. Senior beauty editor Paige Stables and her partner usually don’t reach for the same products given their different skin types but “the Baobab Moisturizer fits perfectly into both our routines,” Stables says.

Unsun Cosmetics

Katonya B. Breaux (also known as mom to the Frank Ocean) founded Unsun Cosmetics to create a company focused on sun defense suited for women of all skin tones. In doing so, she offers a no-residue option for people of color to ensure they get the protection and coverage they need.

Unsun

Unsun Mineral Tinted Sunscreen SPF 30

Star product: Finding a tinted sunscreen for darker complexions can feel like an impossible mission, but Unsun’s formulators did the work for you. The brand’s Mineral Tinted Face Sunscreen, an SPF 30 formula that comes in two shades, shields skin from harmful UV rays with lightweight, blendable coverage. No wonder it won an Allure Best of Beauty Award.

Klur

Lesley Thornton created Klur after realizing she was meant to dedicate her life to her passion: the cosmetics industry. She began as a makeup artist at Estée Lauder but eventually focused on her love of product development. That's where Klur, a line of serums, oils, and creams comes in.

Klur

Klur Immersion Serum Concentrate

Star product: Klur's Immersion Serum Concentrate was designed to plump skin with moisturizing nutrients. Made with a cocktail of vitamins, including C, B5, and E, this silky elixir helps nourish dehydrated skin without congesting pores.

Koba

Thérèse M’Boungoubaya spent years working for some of the biggest names in beauty before launching her brand. The Congolese native created Koba (in Lingala it means turtle, a symbol of longevity and protection) to fill the gap she saw in foot care, launching the Bottom Up Foot Cream. Now, the brand offers products for skin, body, and hair that range from $30 to $90 but in our opinion, the luxe, minimal packaging and sophisticated formulas make them well worth the price.

Koba

Koba The Milk It Body Lotion

Star product: The Milk It Body Lotion makes a frequent appearance in our post-shower routines. The nourishing emulsion has safou oil, olive butter, shea butter, jojoba oil, and baobab oil, but the silky texture is lightweight and not greasy.

epi.logic

Founded by board-certified oculofacial plastic surgeon Chaneve Jeanniton, MD, epi.logic is the cool girl skin-care brand you didn’t know you needed. After clients kept asking the Brooklyn-based doctor to create effective skin care they could use daily, she finally gave in and launched the brand in 2019. The aesthetically pleasing bottles and tubes make them suitable to store just about anywhere in your home and the formulas don’t disappoint. The products use clinical-grade ingredients to target concerns, including hyperpigmentation, dullness, and irritation.

Epi.logic

Epi.logic The Clean Reveal Glycolic and PHA Cleansing Gel

Star product: The Clean Reveal Glycolic and PHA Cleansing Gel is strong enough to remove the day’s debris and makeup while exfoliating, yet gentle enough to use on sensitive skin.

BeautyStat

Cosmetic chemist Ron Robinson spent years formulating products for Clinique, L'Oréal, Revlon, and Avon. After leaving the lab, Robinson started the BeautyStat blog where he shared skin-care knowledge with his followers. It wasn’t long before readers of the blog started asking for a skin-care line. Robinson finally obliged and launched the brand in 2019 with the Universal C Skin Refiner. The line has expanded to other products, including a microbiome cleanser and a moisture-boosting face cream.

BeautyStat

BeautyStat Universal C Skin Refiner 20% Vitamin C Brightening Serum

Star product: Designed to give you brighter-looking skin, BeautyStat Universal C Skin Refiner is made with a potent vitamin C formula (20% L-ascorbic acid) to reduce sun spots and hyperpigmentation, while brightening skin. The formula's consistency is perfect for applying under makeup, so you can use it as a primer—just be sure to follow with sunscreen.

Black Girl Sunscreen

Black Girl Sunscreen is known for exactly what the name says: sunscreen for women of color. Founder Shontay Lundy created the brand so everyone could have a sunscreen that caters to their skin tone.

Black Girl Sunscreen

Black Girl Sunscreen's Broad Spectrum SPF 30

Star product: Black Girl Sunscreen Broad Spectrum SPF 30 is a dream for darker complexions. The chemical sunscreen has a vegan formula, is super lightweight, and leaves no white cast. It can be worn alone while in the sun or as a daily moisturizer because SPF is a necessity every day.

Bevel

Founder and CEO Tristan Walker always wanted a good, clean shave but could never get one that truly satisfied him. Walker created Bevel to provide the perfect, skin-friendly shave for people with coarse, curly facial and body hair.

Bevel

Bevel Single-Blade Safety Razor

Star product: Razor bumps, be gone. Bevel's single-blade Safety Razor prevents cuts (ouch!) and bumps while removing hair to leave super-smooth skin. This sleek razor looks great in your bathroom and comes with five replacement blades, so you get a bunch for your buck.

Oui the People

In 2015, Karen Young founded Oui the People not to give people "better skin" but to change the way people view beauty. The brand never promises to perfect your skin; it promises to make you feel amazing in your own skin. And that beats any pie-in-the-sky product claims in our book.

Oui the People

Oui the People Featherweight Hydrating Body Gloss

Star product: Oui the People Featherweight Hydrating Body Gloss is a luxurious yet lightweight formula made with squalane, rosehip, and avocado oil, all known to add deep hydration to the skin. They sink in, leaving every inch of your body looking glowy but never feeling greasy. The brand recently launched a new scent of body gloss, Orange Blossom, with notes of tart citrus and fresh florals. Plus, how gorgeous is the packaging?
