It's obvious that a bonnet has had the power of protecting hair of every texture and length for generations on end. Bonnets work hard at keeping hair healthy and frizz-free while stylish, at that. But how does one guarantee how sturdy and secure their chosen headpiece will truly be?

Take a scroll through bonnet-maker James E Nix Jr's Twitter feed, and you'll find yourself not only amused but in awe of how durable (and viral) his bonnet creations have become. Nix's genius and comedic marketing strategy involve several viral videos that begin with the words, "I promise y'all will look at my non-slip bonnets differently after this video."

It's as simple as tying a brick to one end of a string while the opposite end of the string is tied to the tip of the bonnet (placed on his head). As he begins to run down the block, a tug to the headpiece drags the heavy brick along behind him. With no signs of any slipping and a total of 3.6 million views, the threshold of his bonnet is proven within 10 seconds of this viral video clip.

Through his brand, MNJ Sales, he created satin-lined elastic bonnets featuring anime, floral, and bandana prints. He tells Allure, "All it is, is a tie-bonnet like a Durag but it wraps around an elastic band to stay on." Further proof of how secure his bonnets truly are comes in the form of a five-second wrestling match on the grass. As one of his friends pulls him to the ground by grabbing onto the end of his bonnet, it once again stays in place and doesn't move even an inch. Twitter user @ur_lovin_linzy even replied to his video tweet "If the bonnet ain't advertised like this from here on out I don't want it."

"To be honest, I just sit with friends and think: what could we do to go viral?" Nix tells Allure. He's been making bonnets for about four years and has his followers in the world of beauty Twitter engaged with his funny product promotions. His favorite bonnet video to date? An adorable game of pup versus bonnet tug-of-war. He demonstrated a playful approach to showcasing the strength of his stay-in-place bonnet as the young canine pulled on a blue squeaky toy tied to one end of a string; tied to the other end of the tip of his dog's accessory.

Whether they're being used for a good night's rest, a day out on the town, or partaking in some self-care, bonnets can sometimes run the risk of slipping off at the slightest inconvenience. Nix, though, is letting his customers and potential customers know: This bonnet can and will stay in place.

You can purchase Nix's Twitter-viral protective and sturdy bonnets, which range from $20 to $30, on mnjsales.com.
